Eikon Touch fingerprint reader

The Eikon Touch can be attached to a PC via the USB port, providing security for your computer whilst allowing you to use it without the need to remember any passwords.

You can enrol up to ten fingers and log on with any of them. Unfortunately after a few weeks it seems to lose the ability to recognise your fingerprints even after three attempts. I thought this problem was mine alone, and caused by either a faulty unit or eroded fingerprints, but this seems to be a common complaint amongst my colleagues.

Great idea, but not much use in practice.

LG Flatron TV/monitor

Available in a range of screen sizes, these dual function offerings from the Korean manufacturer represent fantastic value.

The visuals are great, but they're slightly let down by muffled audio due to the bizarre position of the speakers on the underside of the unit behind a plastic flange which channels sound backwards. Connect to your stereo though and it's a very good buy.

Kellogg's Frosties

They're gr-r-reat! Well, they were at least.

This breakfast classic has been spoilt by the healthy eating trend. The 1/3 reduction in sugar frosting leaving them tasting much like Corn Flakes.

Still significantly nicer than the supermarket own brand equivalents though, to be fair.

Sainsbury's

A long established mid-market supermarket chain with prices and quality somewhere between Asda and Marks and Spencer (but probably closer to the M&S end). Food is usually good quality, as are other own brand products, but not always the cheapest.

Easy branded polo shirts

Many of you probably remember Easy jeans, a perfectly respectable denim wear manufacturer. It seems that they fell on hard times and the name was acquired by Matalan to put on their own label clothing.

What a shame.

Now, although their products are cheap, the quality is awful. After a couple of washes and tumble drys they're now child sized, even though the label says they can be tumbled.

They can't be sold cheaply enough to justify the purchase. Not recommended.
